Beneath the solar panels’ glistening surface, photovoltaic cells generate electricity as sunlight strikes their semiconductor layers. But with this conversion process comes an inevitable byproduct: heat. Excessive temperatures can significantly degrade the performance and lifespan of PV cells, imperiling the system’s long-term viability.
Enter temperature sensors – the thermal guardians of MPPT controllers. The placement of temperature sensors is equally critical. Optimally, one sensor should be placed on each PV module to capture the temperature at the hottest point, usually the center. This provides the most accurate representation of the module’s thermal conditions.
